What you'll do

As a graduate employee, you'll be expected to apply your initiative and impressive problem solving skills to meet the needs of customers in businesses as diverse as mining, export, manufacturing, distribution, recycling and much more.

As a graduate employee with OneSteel, you'll be given loads of opportunities to test your intellect and take ownership of real work. Over two to three years, you'll develop skills and expertise that would otherwise take many years to acquire.

Action from Day One

You'll be heading straight into action as you take responsibility for real projects, clients and work tasks from Day 1, with a supportive team of colleagues you can reach out to for learning and advice. The work you'll do with us will encourage you to innovate, problem-solve, take initiative and think conceptually. Having to influence others and communicate effectively to achieve outcomes will keep you engaged and stimulated throughout your journey.

To ensure you maximise your work experience, you'll be rotated through different divisions of the company, into new projects and even new cities. Engineering Graduates We Look For

If you've completed a degree in Engineering then we're the team for you. We have challenging opportunities for graduates to apply their passion for design, analysis, problem-solving and team work to chemical, electrical, mechanical & mining engineering.

What You'll Be Doing

You won't be paper shuffling with us! You'll be out on site, learning from expert colleagues and possibly even supervising others! Your work will be demanding yet rewarding as you contribute to process and product improvement, product engineering, maintenance, logistics and operations, manufacturing, systems control, safety and quality assurance.

Rotations and Work Locations

During your three-year graduate employment program you'll be rotated every 12-18 months to work in different roles, either on the same project or across multiple projects in locations aroundf Australia that could include Whyalla (SA), Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne. As our team works across both the mining and manufacturing industries, you've got a stellar opportunity to fast track your development into a senior engineering leader.

At the conclusion of your graduate program, you'll step into a supervisory or senior contributor role that matches your talents and your ambitions.

We're out to find engineers with great technical aptitude, an equally good knack for working with people, super analytical skills and a commitment to working safely. If your engineering degree is relevant to chemical, electrical, mechanical or mining engineering - and you're friendly, hard working and have a down to earth attitude - you could be the superhero we're looking for.

Importantly, you'll need to have graduated from your degree January 2010.You'll also need less than two years full-time work experience.

There are seven steps you'll need to take to win a place with us. These steps have been designed to ensure you are the perfect fit for our organisation - and that you'll thrive within our unique environment.

Are you ready?

• Submit your application on-line;
• Complete an upfront online assessment;
• Participate in a phone interview;
• Complete individual and team exercises at our assessment centre; 
• Attend a final interview with a OneSteel manager;
• Await reference and background checking;
• If you're successful, you'll receive an offer that is subject to pre-employment medical.

Our graduate recruitment process runs from February through to June and if you're successful, we'll welcome you into the team sometime before the following February.
