The Navitas Professional Year Program
Our flagship program, the Navitas Professional Year is an initiative of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and Australian professional bodies. The program combines Australian work culture classes, IELTS preparation, CV development and interview skills with a 12-week professional internship at a host company to give you the experience you need to enter the workforce Graduates of the program are eligible for extra points towards migration.

The Navitas Professional Internship Program
The Navitas Professional Internship Program offers students a vocational placement with a company in their chosen industry. The program provides participants with valuable work experience and CV enhancement. Program participants develop practical work skills in a structured and supervised role whilst also getting first-hand experience with Australian workplace culture.
Career Support Services
NWS offers a range of career services that guide and support students and graduates through the many different stages of their career. These include diagnostic testing to determine skills for work, workplace language tests and CV development.

The Navitas Professional Year Program is designed to assist international student graduates gain employment in their chosen career, as well as give eligibility for migration points towards permanent residency. The program is a professional development program combining formal learning and workplace experience.

There are three streams to choose from, depending on your industry:
- Skilled Migration Internship Program – Accounting
- Australian Computer Society (ACS) Professional Year Program
- Engineers Australia Professional Year in Engineering

- 44 weeks, as gazetted by DIAC

The Navitas Professional Year Program
Gain an insight into the world of work in Australia
The Professional Year Program is only available to international graduates of Australian universities. Courses are offered in Accounting, ICT and Engineering.
To enrol in the program, you must have the following:
- an appropriate undergraduate or postgraduate award from an Australian institution, in a relevant field
- eligibility for a 485 skilled graduate (temporary) visa* or bridging visa
- evidence of a minimum of IELTS 6.0 in all 4 competencies
- a valid skills assessment from the relevant professional body:
- ICT & Engineering: Positive skills assessment
- Accounting: Provisional skills assessment
- a successful study history
*You need to apply for this visa within six months of graduation from your university course.

The Navitas Professional Internship Program
Internships for international students
To qualify for the program you need to:
- be between the ages of 18 and 30
- have completed or be currently completing a related course or degree
- have evidence of a minimum IELTS 5.5 in all bands unless you are a citizen of the USA, Republic of Ireland or the UK
- have a successful study history
