    Group Strategy & Finance

    Group Strategy & Finance (GS&F) is a collection of central functions that play a crucial role in supporting and advising all of NAB’s lines of business globally. The team is responsible for leading Group strategy, managing the Group’s finances and funding activities, analysing the economic and competitive environments, identifying business opportunities and shaping NAB’s brand and reputation among groups such as investors, media and government.

    The team is led by NAB’s Executive Director Finance Mark Joiner and comprises a diverse group of functions including Finance, Strategy, Brands and Corporate Affairs, Performance Management and Finance Operations, Treasury, Economics, NextGen Finance, Risk and Customer Analytics, Group Development, Investor Relations and Audit.

    Our graduate program

    The Group Strategy & Finance Graduate Program runs concurrently with the Risk Graduate Program and offers a variety of different business experiences through three rotations across both disciplines.

    Graduates receive a comprehensive learning and development program as well as the opportunity to network with senior leaders. We also set regular projects and initiatives for our graduates to enable you to stretch your skills and present to leadership teams. And we offer a Mentoring Program to provide further support and direction as you move into a permanent role.

  • Wholesale Banking

    Wholesale Banking

    With around 2,500 employees in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the UK and the US, the Wholesale Banking team provides funding, risk management and investment solutions to large corporate clients around the world.

    Our areas of expertise include markets and treasury services, specialised finance such as project finance and structured transactions, loan syndications, securitisation and credit structuring. We also focus on growth opportunities in new and emerging areas including sustainability, public sector infrastructure financing and wholesale equities.

    Working closely with the NAB’s franchises in each region, we provide our customers with access to international financial markets and a range of specialised funding, investment, asset servicing and risk management capabilities. Backed by NAB’s strong balance sheet and AA credit rating, we manage relationships with financial institutions internationally.

    Our 12 month rotational program includes three rotations to give you exposure to our broad range of products and services. Each placement aims to develop your skills, experience and knowledge and gives you a great opportunity to get involved in ‘real work’ whilst exploring which part of the business is best suited to your career goals. From money markets and foreign exchange trading, to client relationship management and project finance, there are opportunities for graduates from all disciplines and walks of life.

    In addition to the structured rotations, we offer a number of initiatives to help you settle in and enjoy your first year at Wholesale Banking:

    • Learning & Development – 15 days of technical and professional development training, designed specifically for our graduates.
    • Graduate Manager – a dedicated person to support you through the program and manage your rotations and ongoing development.
    • Graduate Sponsor – you’ll be matched with a senior leader who will provide career guidance and act as a mentor throughout the year.
    • Graduate Buddy – you’ll be partnered with past graduate who’ll be there to help you out whenever and wherever you need it.
    • Graduate Alumni – keep in touch with past graduates through regular networking events.

    Selection Criteria

    As well as the NAB Graduate Program eligibility requirements, applicants for this program will need:

    • Superior analytical and problem solving ability
    • Confidence and decisiveness, and not afraid to take calculated risks
    • Strong communication skills
    • Experiences outside of university, such as travel, community involvement, extra curricular activities or work experience
    • A passion for banking and finance and a strong thirst for knowledge
