Hi guys,

Just got off the phone with someone in the know in the accounting industry about the GT PKF Merger. Looks like it is going ahead which would mean the new resulting firm would become the 6th largest in Australia with revenue of around 301 million. I am not sure what this means yet for graduate positions at these firms or what the resulting brand will be like.

Grant Thornton is different from other accounting firms because it is not a partnership.

Keep you posted as I know more,

Mike

Do the merger mean that the two firms became one across Australian? Or one office of Grant Thornton merged with one office of PKF?
Hello
I have checked the website of Grant Thornton. It seems that only Sydney and Adelaide offices are offering graduate programs.
Has anyone applied for Sydney or Adelaide office? Is it easy to go through the first stage?

Hi Sajid,

It is my understanding that the partners of PKF will be acquiring equity in Grant Thornton as part of the merger. I cannot confirm for you which applications are open for either brand at the moment.

Hope that helps a little,

Mike

I thought I'd comment on this chat as I'm the Director of Marketing at Grant Thornton.

For those interested, at this point in time, no such merger has been agreed to. We are currently in the process of looking at merger opportunities, as we're definitely planning to be number 5 in the Australian marketing in the next 12-18 months, but nothing definite yet.

So if you're a graduate looking, we're more than interested in talking to you. There are global secondment opportunities (we're in over 100 countries) and lots of interesting work.

Hi Clare,

Great thanks heaps for your update. I saw GT at the Murdoch careers fair today. So I am guessing both graduate programs are running as usual, at least until plans are definite?

Good luck, and I hope it all goes well in the marketing space over the next 12 months!

Mike
