Hello Sir,
I am doing my Master of Engineering in Automotive Intelligent Systems and am completing the course in Oct 2010. I wanted to know if I could apply for the graduate internships. Also, I would like to know if there are any graduate opportunities with Holden.

Hi everyone
Thanks for coming online - I look forward to answering your questions and giving you more information about Meltwater.
You can definitely apply for our roles if you have finished your studies in 2008. They are designed for fresh graduates as well as young professionals. Our objective is that you develop superior skills in sales and business development before we can promote you into management.
Unfortunately we don't offer any internships or vacation work as we are still in the relatively small in Australia. However, we do recruit regularly throughout the year and so are likely to have an interview round when you finish.
Elinor

Here is some general information about our roles for you all:
If you're interested in starting your career in a fast paced environment, then you should definitely consider Meltwater! Originally a start-up company from Norway, we give our employees a lot of responsibility and autonomy from day one. We attribute the success of our rapid expansion to the people we take on board: through their hard work we are able to find our next generation of managers who can help us open offices in new markets.
You will start your career in sales - which is the centre of any growing business. You will learn all about the art of negotiation, and develop your own client portfolio which will consist of companies across all industries. Media monitoring is a fast paced industry in which to work as organisations keep up to date of the most recent news. You will learn a lot about the media interests of your clients and potential clients, which will contribute to your overall business acumen.
Once you have grasped the skills necessary for sales, we will promote you to a Sales Manager role. Here you actively teach and develop our newer employees, and take part in strategy meetings for your office as well. This is the level where you can think more strategically about your career: are you interested in working overseas? Are you interested in remaining in Australia and contributing to our domestic expansion? Would you like to transfer into our client relations department? Our company has been built on the hard work of graduates and young professionals, and we will provide you with a challenging and fun work environment with real progression opportunities.

Good day!
I am a french student, I have been studying in Melbourne as an exchange student for the last 6 months. I study Marketing and Management and am a 4th year student at home (I actually just finished my 4th year). I am starting a gap year that will be made of 12 months of work (internships or full time job). I was therefore interested in your company. I cannot do just a summer internship but would be interested in starting as soon as possible, in an internship position or any full time job (I don't expect a big wage if any, I'm just looking for an experience) in marketing or sales. Do you have any opportunities for me? Is there anyone I could directly contact to explain my situation as it is a bit different?!
Thanks a lot,
Warm regards,
Clotilde.

Dear Elinor
What do you specifically look for in the applications from the job seekers. Any previous sales experiences or the way of answering the job specific questions. What are the tips to be successful in getting the applications short listed in the initial process and in the interviews.
regards
Shankar

Hi Clotilde
Thanks for your enquiry.
Traditionally our roles are for people who are looking to start their career and build upon the foundations they learned during their degree. I can't say whether or not we are able to take you on for a 12 month period without knowing more about your situation. However, if you wanted to contact me directly, you can email me: elinor.rodger@meltwater.com. Please send over your cover letter and resume, and we can talk further about it.

Hi, Name is Ben Hersperger and I am a international student from Switzerland, I am finishing my master degree in Business and I.T in December and am wondering if there are any relevant roles at Meltwater. Thank you very much.
I just have one more question first, are all the opportunities in Sydney or are there jobs in Melbourne as well? I would rather be interested in jobs in Melbourne.
Regards,
Clotilde.

Hi Shankar
Good question!!
When we assess candidates, we are looking for certain things: management potential, communication skills, drive and stamina, interpersonal skills, business intelligence, and a team player. I would suggest thinking of different experiences where you have demonstrated and developed these skills, and mention them in your cover letter. In your resume, don't focus solely on your academic achievements, but include your part time job, any hobbies or societies that you were a part of, and any area where you had responsibility for planning/organising. Through this, you will demonstrate to us that you are a well-rounded individual who is able to work towards deadlines, multi-task and establish great relationships.
We also want people who want our job. This may sound silly, but for any application you submit you should always convince the HR Manager that this is the perfect job for you. For us, this means that you are excited about a career in sales, business development and people management.
If you are able to include the above points in your application, then you will definitely stand out from the crowds!
Elinor

Hi
If you're interested applying for Meltwater, all you need to send me is your cover letter and resume. How much effort you put into your cover letter is up to you - I can't say whether 1 hour or 3 hours work will produce a good cover letter!
I can tell you that it's definitely a good idea to tailor your cover letter to each individual job you're applying for as all employers want to make sure they hire people who want to work for them rather than someone who doesn't really mind where they work. A cover letter is also the best place to highlight the skills you have which differentiate you from all the other candidates, so it's worth spending a bit of time to make sure you address the required skills and show how you're suitable.
Thanks!
Elinor

Hi Kinga
On the 16-17 we will hold both group and individual interviews. On 16, we are planning to have two group sessions, and we'll interview approximately 30 candidates in total throughout the day. Our group interviews don't include a psychometric test or anything, and we focus on testing your communication, presentation, interpersonal and team working skills.
After that we will scale the number of candidates back to 10-12, who we'll interview individually on August 17. In this interview, we will focus on your skills and experiences, as well as give you some exercises so you know what it's like to work with Meltwater on a daily basis.
We're currently going through our applications, so you can expect to hear from us in the next two weeks or so.
Good luck!
Elinor
